Anybody have access to ECRI Institute articles?
I just got shot down from Blue Shield of CA for a hybrid surgery C5-C7 & digging around for info for my appeal. Apparently they rely on the ECRI Institutes findings for their policy decisions. In the ECRI's "HTAIS topic list" they have some updated or new info on disc replacement - May 09 for lumbar and June 09 for cervical. Major fall on my head at 8 yrs old, begins to haunt me 40 yrs later 2/08 Major flare up, add cervical foraminal stenosis & muscle atrophy in RT arm, C5-C7 on way out. Held at bay with PT & acupuncture in hope Blue Shield will become ADR friendly 3/09 round II - more nerve damage, acupuncture not as effective as before. Ship is slowly sinking 6/09 start quest for 2-3 level solution through insurance mine field
