Haven't been on here in a long time. Things have been great until recently. I opened a small business. In the building where I am located, they have been jackhammering and sawing concrete. I work 13 -14 hours a day and after several weeks and me complaining to the landlord about the dust) I develeoped a very bad sore throat. Doctors think from the silica dust that I was breathing. I also started having neck pain from the constant jackhammering which was on the floor just above me.
After a round of antibiotics and steroids, the throat statred getting better but then I started having strange neck symptoms. Waking up unable to move my neck and pain radiating down my right arm. Before my surgery the majority of the pain was left sided. I am going for x-rays next week but am quite concerned. Any thoughts?

Some thoughts in the form of questions:
- why did the doc put you on antibiotics? Did you have any blood diagnostics performed? Any infection? - how did you get neck pain from the noise of jack hammering? Isn't is possible it's caused by the "sore throat?" Thanks,

Another thought...
From your post, the jackhammering is an obvious aggravation to you. Perhaps that caused sufficient mental stress that it induced muscle spasms (a very common phenomenon). If some of those muscles were the very small intervertebral muscles that stabilize one vertebrae relative to the adjacent one, then they very well could have narrowed the foramen through which that root nerve exits the spinal column, compressing that root and causing the exact same symptoms as a bulging disc. Another very common phenomenon. Whatever the cause of your symptoms does turn out to be... here's hoping that it won't require further surgery. Good luck, Jeff

Forgive me for being too brief. I have not been able to handle vibration since my surgery. Riding a lawn mower puts me in pain for three to four days. The jackhammering above me vibrated the whole building and the bank vault that they were removing was directly above me. The silica dust is what caused the throat infection. The doctor wanted a round of steroids for the neck pain and antibiotics for the throat infection. I do believe that the added stress also is a factor. I was more worried about the wierd almost mechanical issues that I was having in the area of the implants. Snapping, cracking and unable to fully look left or right. At first there was no pain with the rotation just like I would get so far then just couldn't go any more. Feeling a little better now. Muscles still in spasms but rotation back to about 75%. I might also add that I am in need of knee surgery because of torn and floating cartilage. I am unable to walk without a limp about 60% of the time. So I also think that may be a factor. In any case, I just don't like pain levels that approach a level 8-10 which hasn't really happens since surgery.
A side note. The arm and shoulder pain is completely relieved when I sit at the deep end of the pool. Comes back as soon as my head is out of water. Too bad I can't hold my breath longer.

I'm going to assume you've checked the basics: your ADR is correctly placed, hasn't subsided, and you don't have an adjacent level going bad. From that assumption, I'd check into localized hypermobility. I'd wonder if trying out a cervical support collar to allieviate your worst days would work as a first step diagnotic attempt. Osteopathic or orthopedic docs could also help you diagnose the problem. If I'm right, I'd look at things to improve ligament laxity, prolotherapy for instance.
