My insurance will not pay for ADR surgery so I am going to go with the anterior lumbar fusion. I am 22 years old and am worried about my job in the future. Does anyone have any advice in regards to how long the recovery period is, or what kind of weight restrictions I will have after it's all said and done?

In general, any lumbar surgery will require 3-6 months of recovery; but fusion does (generally) require longer hospital stays and longer recovery times. However, there are many exceptions, as there are many different kind of procedures. E.g, less invasive options are available now for certain lumbar conditions, like X Stop for stenosis, using MIS techniques for fusion, or lateral approaches to disc replacement.
