Hey folks - I have heard that Laser surgery works to reduce the bone spurs from Stenosis, but it's benefits maybe limited for how long it will be of help. Anyone know of anyone who has done this & how long it has offered relief?
Of course the key is not to take too much as in a Lamatomey as then you can make the spine or the levels unstable. Thanks Jill |

There is a total misunderstanding re laser surgery. The laser is ONLY used to remove soft tissue such disc, scar, or ligament. The ronguer must be used to remove any bone.

Thanks Rob - the Laser Institute talked only about the Laser for me.
I just have wondered if the results dont last very long ? I am sure that it can vary depending on the growth of bone coming back for each patient. Jill |

Jill,
If you are talking about the Laser Spine Institute in Florida I would urge you to be very careful. There are a few others including The Bonati Institute and Microspine. All of these places are set up with heavy, heavy marketing. They spend a lot of money making sure they are the first to come up on google and it is extremely hard to get unbiased information regarding them. They pay people to post on message boards and it is almost impossible to find any negative information about them. Most of them do not participate with any health care plans either. I myself was interested in trying both Laser Spine Institute and The Bonati Institute, but after researching and finding no positive information from ANYONE WHO DIDN'T have an affiliation with them, I decided against it. I am sure they have helped people as they would not be in business if they did not, but the impression I get is that it seems too good to be true. I think they market themselves to people who are desperate and willing to try anything if told that it would help. If these places are indeed what you are talking about I would urge you to try and get more information on them before deciding.

Yes, I would love more informaion. I truly hope that they are legitimate, I just couldn't find any unbiased information and the claims they were making made me suspicous. Hopefully Rob can chime in.

I have been to both places. I much prefer Bonati. If you need just laser (soft issue) work I guess either can do the job. If you need any bone work definitely go to Bonati. They use an endoscope to do the surgery. It is a small cut ~ 1 inch. It really depends what your problem is and what type of surgery is best for you. I would get multiple opinions. I will sned you a personal message.

There is a lot of back and forth, but it certainly draws the lines in the debate. Hope this helps. |
