Dano, I also sent you an e-mail with other questions but can you also tell me how to reach Dr Bray at Cedars Sinai? Where is that located?

Thanks.
Brady

on another note, it's important to give your own blood for your surgery now a days....i gave 3 pints, and thats what they put back in me, not sure how much that is, but the important thing to
remember is to have yours to get back, if you don't need it then you can donate it to others that do

I was also one of the lucky ones who had next to no blood loss for my L5/S1 Charite with Dr. Zeegers. They did take a couple of large vials during the pre-op the day before and said that it could be used as a self-donation in case I needed it, which I didn't. Although I never saw him/her, a vascular surgeon was on standby throughout my entire operation.

You should, of course, be ready for the anti-thrombosis injections. This seems to be very standard practice and not an indication that something has gone wrong necessarily. With the cartilage restoration knee surgeries, you end up doing the shots for a month or more because of the extended period on crutches. It's no big deal and the best use I've ever found for belly fat.

I used to be a blood banker (I changed careers) 1 unit of blood has about 350 cc. That is with the plasma removed which is the normal procedure. Autologous bold (which is self donated) has 450-500 cc. the plasma is usually not removed. this could have changed in the past 7 years I have been out.

If autologous blood is not used by your self it is destroyed. It is not given to the general population.

Autologous blood donation costs more than regular donor blood mainly for the administrative costs and keeping it seperate from the regular donor stock.

Gary, what happened that they had to give you back your 3 units?
