My story started on 2004;

During my pregnancy, an itching pain on my left hand started to appear.
After consulting with a doctor in my country, I was advised to have a fusion.

On December 2005 I have had a C5-C6 operation and the doctor placed a huge Prestiege ADR (higher then my original disc).
The outcome was horrific:
Both arms with "bites" pain and a "stabbing knives" pain on my both feet and also a "hanging" feeling in the back of my neck.
The surgeon told me that it is all a matter of time for recovery.
Well, TIME has passed... PAIN didn't.

On March 2007 I have had a revision operation.
Huge Prestiege ADR was removed; huge Spinal-Kinetic ADR was placed instead.
Operation outcome:
The only relief was by the “hanging” feeling that was removed.
All the rest of the pain remained.

Now, the only option for me is to have another revision by a fusion this time.

I would like to have any suggestion regarding recommended doctor candidate for revisions and hear from people that had cervical revisions with good outcome.

Melisa:

You posted this elsewhere and I stated that it sounded like Stenum Hospital did your surgery. I never got a reply but I know they used the Prestige disc and then, recently, switched to Spinal-Kinetics.

I have heard (please search Dr. Regan) that this surgeon has done some revisions. You might also try to get a hold of Blair and Anastasia both whom have had revision surgeries. I believe Blair is doing well and Anastasia is still in the early stages of recovery.

I have two of the Prestige discs in my kneck and am doing fine with that surgery. My lumbar area still causes pain though it has not affected my lifestyle; i.e., working out, working, and gardening. I am scheduling for a rhizotomy after the first of the year.

I wish you good luck and I am sorry you have struggled so much. Please hang in there and allow this group to support you in the process.

Melisa,

Your case is a new one for me. I'm sorry you need to ask for help, but I've forwarded your mail to Dr Dam Hieu here in France for an opinion. He does lumbar fusions and cervical ADR/fusion and has over 20 years of surgical spine experience. I'll let you know what his take is, and if you'd like a (free) opinion based on your imaging, feel free to PM me.
