Hi Colorado,

After reading Coflex-F company's web, I understood that Coflex-F is limited:
1. L1 to L5, not L5 to S1, since there is no place to held the lower part of the Coflex-F at S1 level.
2. Single level only, since two pieces (lower part of first one and higher part of second one) couldn't land on one piece of bone.

Am I right?

Hi Xiaoyu,

1. According to my doctor, although Coflex was only approved for L1 thru L5 during the trial, you can use it at L5-S1. I was concerned about this, but it was explained to me that a persons individual anatomy would dictate whether or not L5-S1 is appropriate. When I looked at my x-rays, the lower ridge (spinous process?) on S1 was larger and similar in prominence and size to my other spinous processes. Based on my discussions with my doctor, and my specific anatomy, I'm no longer concerned about using the Coflex at this level (I do have other concerns as stated previously).

2. My doctor showed me how 2 Coflex devices fit on a model, and they didn't interfer with each other. I never considered this as one of my concerns based on what I was shown.

I hope this helps some...
