Keano, this is quite typical for any spinal procedure. Just do a search, and you'll find many relevant posts. E.g., this one from Maddie, 8-7-10 post:

Normal constipation due to meds, food or surgery-shock is typical, I agree.

However, I am seeking for people with long term and chronic constipation due to nerve damage or any other unknown cause, as I very clearly stated in my first post.

Default Poop!

Oh yes I had to go to the ER just after my surgery to get unplugged! Not a good experience, but we laugh about it now. It has been over a year now and I still have some GI stuff. My posts about it all are in the surgical outcome part. I do not suggest a laxative, but do suggest Mirolax- easy just softens it up! It is much better than them putting an IV line up the @$$ and telling you to hold a liter in there before waddling like a duck to the toilet! Actually, when things get too bad now, I use the little saline enemas from CVS- just the saline. Works like a charm! This all may be too much information, but I think we should share to help eachother!

Hey, thanks on your experience and your advices... However, in cases such as I mentioned, natural remedies and medicines do not help.

I am talking about long term constipation (more than 6 months). Bowel can go out ONLY and ONLY in hospital. Obviously, this makes no sense and person cannot live in this way, that is why I seek for similar stories and possible solutions.

Question

Keano, I'll post more info about GI stuff next week when I get some time. BTW, what does your signature mean? I am confused? Also, pls include an updated signature to include your spine history, thx.

Ok, thanks.

I think my signature is pretty clear, and this is not thread about it. I work for a charity organization (patient advising and education, based on personal experience). Organization is approved by world leading community for spine patients and professionals.
