The father or the son? Both do MIS surgeries, if I recall. Pls tell us more about yourself, your condition, etc.

Default Surgery by Dr. Yeung

The father and son both do the same surgery, which uses Radio Frequency ablation (via an arthroscope) to destroy the painful nerve endings in a degenerated disc (and then heat to seal the opening). Some call it a visualized method of IDET, but it really is much better. I spoke to the father via E-mail several times, he is quite a nice man but his surgery has had very mixed results. I was looking for a minimally invasive surgery to avoid ADR, and I spoke to Dr. Yeung and also Dr. Chui (who is located in So Cal and does the same surgery but uses a laser instead of Radio Frequency). I ultimately chose to go to Dr. Chui because my parents live in So Cal, so it was much easier and less expensive than going to Arizona.

I got absolutely ZERO relief from the surgery, and 4 months later had ADR. I am sure the results would have been no better with Dr. Yeung, and neither his procedure not Dr. Chui's were totally covered by insurance (I paid over $5,000 out of pocket). I think that if your disc(s) are only mildly degenerated, the procedure might have a chance to work, but you are rolling the dice. However, if you have significant Degenerative Disc Disease (as do most of us that end up on this board), the odds of Dr. Yeung's surgery working are minimal. I have never actually spoken to someone with DDD who had his procedure and got pain relief.
