Paul,

When I first read this - I wanted to respond, but just didn't know what to say. I really get PO'd when I notice someone is seemingly getting neglected or incompetent care....... I am glad that there is someone taking your mother's case more seriously than the others. I just hope she finds relief soon. Nobody deserves to be treated like that!!!

By the way - what you said in your last paragraph says it all in a nutshell about what us "seasoned" spineys have been through at one point or another in our journeys. I appreciate you posting it and it helps confirm that when one of us goes through one of the listed scenarios listed in that paragraph - that we are not the "only ones" that have been through this and we are not alone during this process.

Paul, I feel so bad for you and your mom, it is very stressful to be so far away and to have to communicate via phone vs. in person.

My mom has been going thru back pain for years, and has been given all the bad diagnoses -- its in your head, you're not that bad, there's nothing we can do for you, its all menopause... She's been to so many Drs., I think she is actually going to drive to mine for help!

I went thru a bunch of drs. here in Phila -- all responses ranging from "its in your head" "pain management is your only answer" "call us when your pain is severe and consistent enought" (WHAT!!!). And I'm young....my PCP even said she didn't know what to do with me.

I do feel the same way as you -- back pain gets so little media attention, which is especially amazing with the FDA approving Charite -- you'd think someone would catch on by now that this is a subject with a HUGE audience.

Please keep us updated, and I will add your mom into my thoughts...SG
