One new approach I have read about is intradiscal injections of etanercept (aka enbrel). There are studies a Johns Hopkins and Walter Reed now going on, but I can find very little else about this.
Enbrel is the anti-TNF drug used for rheumatoid arthritis. It is also the drug used in an intramuscular injection by the controversial folks at diskcure.com Anyone have contacts at Johns Hopkins, or other means of checking this out? |

Interesting stuff, this etanercept. It looks like Immunex is the mfr., and is (or was) apparently involved in some kind of legal scuffle with regard to its patent. Are you an IP lawyer perhaps you can speak to the legal action?
Anyway, theres lots of reference info on the web about the anti-inflammatory properties of this substance. Heres one.
