Had a discogram about 2 weeks ago which was pos for L3-L4 although all discs have severe DDD and leaked. Radiologist said L2-L3 looked like a dog had chewed on it, I complimented him on his poetic imagery
![]() last week my MD did an intradiscal analgesic/steroid injection to double check as he was surprised with discogram results. Here is my question: following injection back pain went to 0/10 . Leg pain which I never really had, just kinda achy shot to 6-8/10. It has been 5 days and the leg pain is slightly better although my old friendly back pain is returning. He wants to also check L2-L3, I am worried all this poking of my less than stellar discs may be causing them to leak more ie my new increase in leg discomfort. Is this familiar to anyone? I realize most of you are youngin's but for us old fogies with fragile discs would you let them do the other disc?

I had increased symptoms post-discography, L4/5, L5/S1, with guidance, done by a respected gentleman. Discography is a diagnostic, with some degree of false positives. Ask how the test will improve or affect the clinical decision on the treatment path? You may/will get an well spoken answer that the two of us will not understand. You may get a differential diagnosis(?), alternate theory. |

Yes it was done in an office setting with fluoro. He had always thought it was the dis below and wanted to make sure it was the pain generator.
Felt prerty close to the discogram about 2 weeks ago. The lwg pain is a little better my usual back pain is feturning. He wants to do the same thin on the disc above. I am inclined to say no. I am wondering if all these poking in my discs are increasing leKage Nd therefore leg pain increase. He is not happy that I am going to Spain and said he could just keep doing these instead. He said it could last up to 3 months I am day 5 and the pain is coming back What do u think?
