Default Lumbar Rhizotomy Injections Relief

What? Something good happened?

I had the above from L3-S1 about a week ago. Yesterday and today I halved my med dose and I'm on a big gun. It's an incredible feeling to have a respite and I did not ask what type of procedure he used e.g. pulsed radiofrequency versus other means (I forget the types).

I wonder too how many one can have per year as this is not such an innocuous procedure. They essentially stick a darning needle way in there and there inevitably is scar tissue.

So, after finding out that I'm relatively inoperable, nada can be done for my intraforaminal stenosis (severe, held at bay by epidurals so far, etc.) something good happened.

Thought I'd share. Dealing with this back stuff day-by-day has hurt my "joie de vivre".

Interesting that the injections were all on one side. I wonder if by favoring the other side this put pressure on my facets on the "good" side.

Default That's great

Allan,

That's great news. You can get long term relief from those. They can be redone, but I'm not sure at what intervals. Here's hoping things improve and stay that way.

Thumbs up Thanks TC

Yesterday, I woke up without any morning pain, none - like the good old days over 8 years ago. I tapered my morphine to 1/4 a dose in a week. I read on one board that this blessing lasted only 12 days for him. Now, 24 hours later, back hurting like hell, I'll take the same 1/4 dose. It's such a strange feeling this strange visit to Lourdes.

I do not know how often this can be repeated. If you access (you must! it's great) www.medscape.com and get their medical articles, I think that there's a question how innocuous this procedure is re: scar tissue.

If anyone knows how often this can be repeated on one side, please give a holler!

I found Lourdes with the reality of a biopsy ahead. Such is life in the late 50s.

Default Also try

www.pubmed.com for another source. I think you have to register, but it's free. Unfortunately, a lot of the articles only allow viewing of the abstracts. www.sciencedirect.com is also helpful.

Default Thank you TC

Ooh, I've been way too long (spanking myself). Thanks for the ideas.

So weird. Had the brief Cure and once in a while it comes in moments.

What I'll never understand is that with such extensive spine derangement, why this should work.

Best...
