Haven't taken it - supposedly a planned successor to Vioxx and advertised as safer than the drugs pulled from the market. Check the website for more info:

Is Arcoxia FDA approved or just in clinical trials?

From what I have read, Arcoxia is being marketed/prescribed in other countries, but is still in extensive clinical trials in the USA. Merck apparently doesn't want any problems to surface with this drug by conducting a shorter clinical trial - Vioxx trials lasted a year or less, but the problems didn't show up until many months or years had passed.

Quuen of Hearts - thanks for replying. I hope it or something similar to Vioxx gets approved. I'm miserable without it.

Arcoxia is made by the same company who made Vioxx, well here in the UK anyway.

I was wrong in that last statement, Vioxx and Arcoxia are not made by the same comapany. The two companies just package things in similar boxes!!!

Apparently Merck does manufacture both drugs. Here's a link to Merck's website about FDA approval of Arcoxia:

http://www.merck.com/newsroom/press_releases/research_a...pment/2004_1029.html

Merck may have a subsidiary company that markets/packages drugs for sale outside of the USA.

Arcoxia is done by MSD over here in the UK. It was only today I realised that Vioxx was by Merck, not MSD, like I say similar packaging.
