Hi there Keziah

Yes, mri scans can be done, I have had several since my lumbar ProDisc surgery in 2004 to monitor the degeneration I have developed at the above levels. The images at the level of the ProDiscs are distorted but the adjacent segments can be visualised.

The tighter spaces in the c-spine does make it hard to visualize adjacent levels as well. Laura has a Prodisc-C and it makes it hard to tell if there are problems with C4/5 and C6/7 with the ADR at C5/6.

Default reading mri

Hi,

My doctor showed me an Mri that he had on a prestige disc he put in. It was very distorted and you couldn't see the adjacent levels very good. He told me that stainless steal and or cobalt chrome will mess with the MRI actually any metal will. but CT's and x-rays are not affected. Titanium is supposed to be the best for MRI's and many of the newer ADR's will probably be made of Titanium. I'm going overseas for my surgery and specifacallly asked for an ADR made with Titanium but the FDA hasn't approved any here in the states. The Doctor sent me a copy of an MRI with an Titanium ADR and the adjacent levels are clear although the implant inself is distorted.

Good luck

Flat film x-rays are okay with metal. CTs will be distorted.
