Question MRI help?

I am usually pretty good at reading MRI's, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what this is? It (attached) comes from a axial view of my back. I put a arrow showing what I am talking about, the big black round part towards the upper right of the pic. Any body can tell me for sure?

Thanks in advance!
Ken

Your MRI report (narrative from the radiologist) should describe anything unusual. Did you request a copy of it from the facility that took the images? I wouldn't want to speculate without a medical degree.

Ken,

I don't know either, but my first guess would be that it is your descending aorta. It probably appears in the more proximal and distal images?

This is my written report (attached). It can't be the herniation, right? Liver Cyst?
Maybe I can get the docs office to ask him without having to pay for another appointment.

If you mean the large round structure that is just anterolateral to large lumbar vertebral body, lateral to the inferior vena cava and posterior to the peritoneal membrane; I believe that is the descending aorta.

Could be an alien implant. Have you been or have memory of being abducted?

Don't try to figure it out yourself , you will worry yourself to death. When ever you have a MRI there is a report generated, hospital / med. records etc. Your Dr.s office should have the report on your MRI. You can also go to where you had it done and inquire about getting the report. I have all the reports on the MRI's I have had , you can even get copies of the actual films to show to another Dr. or just have for your records. The Dr. who ordered it should explain it to you.

i am 100% certain that is a very normal looking descending aorta. the flatter structure next to it is the inferior vena cava. the gray blobs to the sides are your kidneys.
