Came across this abstract about ozone injections which may be of interest - Title: Ozone injection therapy for lumbar facet joint syndrome. A prospective study Author(s): Bonetti M., Fontana A., Martinelli F., Pellicano G. Citation: International Journal of Ozone Therapy, Apr 2008, vol./is. 7/1(16-20), 1972-3539 Publication type: Journal: Article Source: EMBASE Abstract: Lumbar facet joint syndrome is a common condition affecting around 80% of patients with low back pain. This study aimed to assess the therapeutic efficacy of CT-guided oxygen-ozone infiltration of the lumbar facet joints. We selected 58 patients presenting pain caused by the facet joint syndrome resistant to physical and pharmacological treatment. After O2-O3 injection 38 (65.5 %) patients had a complete remission of pain immediately after treatment. At clinical follow-up using a modified McNab method the percentage success rate had dropped to 55.1% (32/58) one month after therapy, 46.5% (27/58) after three months and 36.2% (21/58) after six months. Our results show that CT facet joint infiltration with ozone is a good method for treatment of lumbar facet joint syndrome. The injections can be repeated and the treatment has no side effects. The best results were seen in patients with only spondyloarthrosis of the facet joints. Facet joint ozone injection therapy using a standardized protocol is safe, effective and easy to perform. However, the clinical effect is limited (65.5% decreasing to 36.2% after six months), and we recommend repeating the injections after one to three months.

I am sorry you are still having such pain six months after having the fusion. Out of interest did you have the prosthetic disc removed or have you been fused with it still in situ? Who/where did you have your surgeries? I am in the UK, are you in the US? The ozone therapy is something I personally know nothing about, I'm afraid...other than the abstract posted which seems to indicate some success. It could be worth a try. There is more information on its use in pain relief here - it can be used for cervical facets -(you may have already seen the link) http://www.gracermedicalgroup.com/therapies/page_04.php I am doing very well after my cervical TDR with only very occassional discomfort/tingles in my hands (which is a huge improvement) but my lumbar/scaral area has been giving me some trouble. I had lumbar facet joint injections three weeks ago which have helped me. I was researching facet degeneration when I came across the abstract I referred to above and remembered your post. I have come across Dr Filler when researching on the net and understand he has published books and papers but don't know more than that or anyone he has treated. Are you considering a consultation with him? I wish you well Melisa and hope you can soon find some relief from your continued pain. Please let us know how you get on. With kind regards Lynda

Melisa, I second Lynda's kind words. But as I recall, you are not an ADR patient? And we talked a little bit about Dr Filler several months ago, sorry we could not help more. Did you have any luck with the diagnostic blood tests? Visual microscopy, others?
