I had a positive discogram 2 weeks ago. I have only had about 2 days where I felt half way good since then. The last 3 days the pain has been so bad it is driving me to distraction. Almost all I can think about is how much pain I am in. My husband says he can't remember when I have had this much pain for so long a time.
Is this normal? What kind of experience has any one else on this forum? Thanks for your help. Ouch!

Ouch,
Sorry you are in pain. This is usually the case after a discogram, as (you know) it is a diagnostic test for "abnormal" discs. Thus, a positive test will replicate (or exacerbate) your symptoms. I was sore for a good two weeks after my discogram, which revealed 10/10 pain at 2 levels with grade 5 tears. I hope you feel better soon. Justin |

Ouch, you may find this FAQ helpful:
http://adrsupport.org/eve/forums/a/t...1/m/7451064022 My discogram left my spine feeling better, but I had a killer headache from the loss of spinal fluid. Did you learn more about the condition of your disc? Did they describe the disc condition to you?

My first discogram was extremely painful during the procedure and for the next 3 - 6 days.
My second discogram was painful, but nowhere near as bad. In my opinion, the primary reason for the difference is that there was no medication used during the first discogram, while there was some sort of medication administered during the second. David

Thanks to you all.
I had medication before the disco, but only pain pills after & ice. The disco revealed I have very little to almost no disc left at the L5/S1. They now recommend I get in touch with a surgeon. So, I have been doing my research and reading lots on this forum. Today my doctor prescribed Percocet to replace the Lortab 7.5, at least for a while. I am loopy now but the pain is better. Ouch
