Does anybody have any information/expierence on "radio frequency procedures". I am scheduled next week for my first one and I have a basic understanding of the procedure but I am worried of nerve side effects and wondering if they are as NON SUCESSFUL as ESI's. They might as well ask for your wallet, kick you in the back and send you home for ESI's. This Radio Freq. procedure is the next step for my Dr to approve a Spinal Cord Stimulator. I am also trying to sue comp to send me to Texas Back for ADR evaluation instead of stimulator. I need three levels replaced

Box, there's a ton of info on these procedures that I list on "research sites," here.

Is this to basically block the nerves by deadening them -- thereby removing the pain?

Box, RF procedure is most likely for facets. If facets are shot, that may be a contra-indication for ADR. You need to be evaluated by someone experienced with 3-level procedures.

The MD sais that it is very similar to ESI but it uses radio frequencies to burn the pain sensory fibers in the nerve (L5/S1 in my case). My only concern is perm nerve damage. The last nerve root block left my left leg partially parylized for a day.
