Default Rhizotomy?

S.O.S.!!! Please help!

Has anyone here had experience with rhizotomy? I have a good friend who incurred a "crush" injury to her spine when some metal fencing fell on top of her at a nearby stable. Her current diagnosis is severe scoliosis and several bulging discs in the lumbar and all of the cervical. Her pain level is at 10 all day with no relief. I believe she would not qualify for adr due to rhuematoid arth. and low bone density. I have emailed Dr. Zeegers but not heard back.

I'm hoping that there may be someone on this forum who can give some information as to where to turn now, even if it is to advise for which medications may help as she is allergic to morphine, which probably rules out most of the "heavy hitters".

Thanks,
Holly

Holly,

I haven't had that procedure. The poster that goes by the handle, Christinlal, has had that multiple times. You could PM her.

Good luck to your friend, Jeff

there are a few posters who have had successful rhizotomies - i'd do a search and dig around. while they aren't permanent, many have had good success and had a good amount of time pain-free from them.

i'm not an expert on them at all, and i don't do them nor have i had one - i just know it's selectively burning nerve roots that are believed to be the source of pain.
