stopping amitriptiline before surgery

Hi everyone,

I'm having my surgery on 24th october(cervical adr and decompression) and at the moment take amitriptiline for the nerve pain. Taking that, and not being able to do any exercise because of the pain, I've put on loads of weight.
Is it a good idea to gradually decrease the amitriptiline so that I'm off it by the time of surgery, or will I still have to take it afterwards anyway?

I would consult with your physician regarding any prescription changes this close to your surgery date.
