Default The wheels turn slowly if on coumadin.

Hi everyone,

Well, I am sitting in my hotel room down at Mayo Clinic, having just completed my x-rays and consult. Obviously, they want to do an MRI with contrast of my hip, but can't because of the coumadin. So....I went and had lab work done to check my INR levels, but they can't fit me in for a thrombophilia consult to go over todays lab work, until next thursday, 12/11. The hematologist will then take me off the coumadin for 5 days, while I give myself daily Lovenox injections in my tummy, as a bridge, then 6 days after that, on December 17th, I will have the MRI with the contrast and the consult with ortho afterwards. I am thoroughly depressed. The waiting, the waiting, and more waiting, is just doing me in. I don't know how much more I can take. I understand the coumadin calls for this protocal, but why can't they just admit me to the hospital and do it? I feel so dismissed. I just feel like I want to end it all. Sometimes that just makes the most sense of all. Forgive my rant. This is one of those days when the bear just eats me.

*offers some e-hugs* Wish I could be there to give support in person or do a silly dance to cheer you up. You'll make it through this, I'm sure of it.

Sorry to hear that things have gone "south" for you again. Surely someone realised you were on Coumadin or did that bit of info get lost in the paperwork somewhere?
Wish I could give you some encouragement, how about a few cyber hugs! and maybe a couple of these guys....
Hang in there Cathy

Thank-you all very much for your kind words and emoticons of support. I'll trudge through it. This Thursday I drive back down for the thrombophilia consult and the bridge from coumadin to lovenox. I guess I just seem to be having more bad days than good, of wondering if I will ever get resolution to this pain. I know I'm not alone. And I certainly know there are folks much worse off than me on this forum. It doesn't diminish my pain, but can surely make it more tolerable on some days.
Will report back soon. Thanks again!
