Default X. Stop Spacers

Has anyone heard of the devise, X.spot spacer. I just talked to man in Spokane Washington who had this spacer device put into his L2-3 spine. He said he is feeling great, only 3 week post op, no leg pain and was a out patient procedure. Check out the website
www.xstopspacer.com Looks like a good option from fusion and you retain motion added disc space. If any ones has had the X stop spacer please please post your results.

Aloha Sean

Default Isn't this device for stenosis, not DDD?

Sean,

I have heard about this device, but if you read the details it says it is for spinal stenosis, not Degenerative Disc Disease. Stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal, pinching the nerves) is VERY different from DDD, which is degeneration of the discs themselves. Now DDD can put pressure on the nerves as well (causing leg pain), but the back pain is caused from the degeneration of your discs. That can ONLY be cured by removing the discs and having ADR or fusion surgery. Putting in the XStop device will do nothing for your back pain, because according to your signature information that is caused by DDD (you had a Discogram that was positive and said your back pain was coming from your discs). Unless I am missing something, the XStop device is not designed to fix pain from DDD.

There is some idea of using devices like this to unload a degenerating disk. I've not seen a lot of data on the success of the idea but it's been around for a couple of years so there's likely more on it out there.

Thanks Charles

Just looked like a less evasive procedure that might work for my DDD and facet pain. The fibrin sealant has helped , but it is not a long term fix I know.

Default Worth a look, but be wary

Sean,

It is certainly worth a further look so do some research, but I have never heard of a procedure like this (stenosis specific) helping DDD. If you are looking for something minimally invasive, a procedure like Biacuplasty might be more suited to DDD and worth a look as well. I am all for avoiding surgery if possible, but unfortunately once the discs have degenerated past a certain point, that is usually the only real fix.

Good luck,
