This should be helpful, Please note the Sheraton Grand has all Air conditioning and the Sheraton Berganhausen has half the rooms with Air con as of 18/11/05
http://gtahotels.com/discount.hotels/Munich.htm Immediately across the road from the Alphaklinik are the two Sheraton hotels -- -- -- the Sheraton Grand (which I think is quite expensive and has all air-conditioning,) and the Sheraton Berganhausen, which is more modest in cost and does have some air-conditioned rooms. The last I heard 50% of the rooms were air-conditioned and at this time of the year you really need it -- -- -- there was no air-conditioning four years ago at the Berganhausen and I got roasted, my ADR was the 26th of July 4 years ago. If you do stay at the Sheraton Berganhausen or Grand there are lots of nice little cafes and restaurants round about so you can have your meals away from the main hotel if you wish. There is a cybercafé. The cybercafe is called "San Francisco Coffee Co.",San Francisco Coffee Company is reached by going out the back door. Hang a left, then turn right which takes you into the "square", the open area with Peppino's restaurant on the left and the movie house on the right. Keep going straight ahead past the Muellers bakery and the cafe is on the right next to some shops. They only have a connection and facilities no computers for you to use The launderette ( I am told 8/8/06) they only do dry cleaning is out the back door as well, make a right immediately out of the back door, and there are shops down twards the end of the path - the launderette is on the right. (they are a bit expensive), you turn right just outside the hotel door and it was on the right towards the end of the hotel building, and a supermarket if you wish to do some of your own meals and shopping. I was hardly mobile at all, and the Taxis from the Munich air port are BMWs and Mercedes usually. It is an amazingly clean and beautiful city with brilliant roads. Dr Zeegers is an amazing guy and of course he's Dutch so he commutes every week home to Holland. Here is a link to the Sheraton Berganhausen hotel http://munich.gtahotels.com/hotels/a...&sort=0&Page=0 Although travelling solo for ADR to the Alphaklinik is not encouraged, either by the Alphaklinik or myself, the following assistance is available to solo travellers. If patients advise Dr Zeegers prior to going to the Alphaklinik that they are going on their own and would like help, there are two members of staff at the Alphaklinik that will attend and help them I understand, in their hotels, to change surgical dressings and the like. A member posted this helpful information Everything went according to "plan" for the most part. Before leaving, I inquired about any possible financial discount if I paid in advance, and, yes, I did receive a 2% discount on the amount that I wired before leaving. I only wish I had taken the time to go to FAQs first, because there you will find a link about wiring money an inexpensive way. Anyway, I used my bank and got it done. I spent a lot of time on the phone before I left with my bank and my VISA credit card company making sure I understood fees when using their cards. Sheraton Bogenhausen was definitely the right choice. Very convenient for my brother who accompanied me, so he could visit easily. Also, the AlphaKlinik has drivers (I mostly had Hans -very nice man) who can take you back and forth after surgery for appointments, therapy, paying bills etc. I also arranged with Hans for the return flight to the airport. Gave him a nice tip then for all driving. I didn't have a laptop, so eventually we found what I think is the closest Internet Cafe. Take the Ubahn to Max Weber Platz - just 4 stops away with no changes. Exit the main exit, make a left, and follow the sidewalk about 100-200 feet and it's right there on your right. Very reasonable rates, and extensive hours. The Sheraton also has a computer station -- for a price. Very expensive. Didn't try it. I made my hotel arrangements through Dr. Zeegers secretary...she gave me the reduced special AlphaKlinik rate which included breakfast. The breakfast buffet is expansive and wonderful and delicious! Things I asked for when booking the room included air conditioning (A MUST HAVE in summer), and quiet -- away from the elevator and any construction. We we arrived we asked for our minibar to be emptied out and we turned it into our "refrigerator". I kept an ice pack in there which stayed cool and was functional. Also we went to the MiniMall...go out the back door, take a left, when you get to the street, go right and look for signs. We stocked up almost daily on croissants, meat, cheese, etc., and had picnic lunches or dinners. I brought a travel clothesline and tied it up over the tub and did handwashing. This saved time as my brother looked and looked for a nearby laundramat but couldn't find one. He ended up going to a place near the train station (twice) to do laundry which took 1/2 a day. The Alpha Klinik was phenomenal and patient care exceptional. I can't speak more highly of it. I felt very safe there. I do think my room was soundproofed. I am a very light sleeper so I still wore earplugs because I was on the boulevard side. On testing day, the day before surgery, I wish I had brought a few yogurts or easy to eat snacks as I have braces. They do provide sandwiches and beverages. Testing day for me was VERY long. 9 am to 6 pm. The AlphaKlinik was extremely thorough, and responsive to all questions/concerns. Dr. Zeegers was wonderful. I am so glad I went to him because he said my surgery was very difficult because of my small bones. In the end, Dr. Zeegers did write a Letter of Medical Necessity for me for insurance purposes. They denied me coverage. I can appeal if I want, I probably will, though I'd rather focus on healing, not fighting.
