I haven't posted here in some time but was reading most of your posts up to my surgery day. I am now 5 days post op from my Charite L4-5 and have taken a big step backwards. Thurs (surgery day) and Friday were pretty much a blur and to my surprise I was semt home on Sat morning! Sunday and Monday were actually very tolerable with my lortab controlling my belly pain and very little if any back pain. I woke up today with what I can only describe as "searing" back pain. Of course my first thought is that something is wrong but I'm sure it's a normal part of the healing process. I have been walking quite a bit since I've been home and was very pleased with my progress until today.
Is this pain normal? I don't have to worry about the disc coming "loose" or anything do I? Any info is really appreciated. Thanks. John

John,
I was sucking wind pretty hard at 1 week post-op... lots of ups and downs... mostly downs. But, if you were healing up nicely and have an onset of severe pain, you must notify your doctor's office. They may want to get some films to check things out. It may be nothing to worry about, but you should not ignore the onset of severe pain at 1 week out. Mark |

Hi John,
if this really is very severe pain then Mark is absolutely right and you should get it "checked out". The main pain I remember from three years back was from the incision. Have they given you a corset to wear? Best, Alastair

Johnny,
Sudden severe pain doesn't sound like something to mess around with. I would say that you should call your docotor's office. Good luck with it. I hope it's nothing to worry about, but it would be better to find out. I take it you like Johnny Depp?? Good Luck!

Thanks guys..I've got a call into them right now and am waiting to hear back. Not sure what brought this on but don't want to take a chance that it's serious. Come too far to screw it up now. Thanks again.
