Thanks for the article. This should be encouraging...

Preoperative participation in sport proved to be a strong positive predictor for highly satisfactory postoperative outcome following TDR. In a selected group of patients, however, preoperative inability to participate in sporting activities did not impair postoperative physical activity.
Good luck with the insurance hurdles.

Yes, I am painfree. I lift weights and a lot of cardio work.

School keeps me really busy these days, so I don't have a lot of time for sports unfortunately. However, I can do anything sport related that I want. I choose to avoid some activities as a personal decision (not a limitation).

I am virtually pain free, even 3 months after surgery with Dr. B.

Right now, I mainly:
--lift weights
--Jog/walk on the treadmill
--Use the exercise bike

In a couple of weeks, when the weather warms up again, I have every intention to start riding motorcycles again.

Yes, I have been using the squat machine in the gym...very, very carefully.

So far, I am up to 60lbs (nothing to really brag about, but not too shabby for me)

Nope... won't get me close to the squat rack or deadlifts.

I am about 99% positive squats is what did my L4-L5 DDD. Doc claims it was over time, but i had an incident while squatting about 405 and literally felt something akin of a deflation in my back when it happened.

I really want some sort of procedure to restore my back to the level that I could do squats (MUCH lighter weight than before) without worry. I am hoping some of the new procedures fit this bill. The squat with a reasonable amount of weight is the best exercise in the world in my opinion and I really miss being able to do them.

Thanks for the article. It will be very interesting to see how athletes far in the future. I have not been going to the gym just skiing and riding my spinning bike and today was wrestling with a 5 year old child with Autism (that’s another story). Last Saturday as I was making my way down to the bottom of the chair lift I launched off a log, stuck the landing,it was definitely unintentional. This was the most force my ProDisc has had to endure and I’m happy to say all is well. Never been much of a jumper, powder skiing is more my style check out these turns. We’ve received over 8 feet of snow since Sunday so that log should be long gone by now.
