I keep seeing all these recovery times that do not seem the same, so my thought on it would be it depends on how well you deal with surgery and how gental your doctor is. I flew home 8 days after my surgery but I was up walking the next day. I went to my hotel 4 days after the surgery. My flight home was a total of 15 hours. So as I as u said before I think it depends in you and your surgeon. I am at 12 1/2 weeks post opp and my surgeon has released me to start full workouts and normal activities and sports with wisdom. So do not expect your recovery to be like everyone else because you are an individual and I beloved your body will tell you what you can and can't do. After surgery I dis hurt but it was nothing like the pain I had beforehand and it was mainly surgical pain. So good luck and keep your chin up and look for the best outcome possible.

There are lots of variables with age being a factor (53). I was told that my veins were larger and hard to get to thus the larger incision. But I over did it during the 8th week and ended up back in bed. So walk and rest the first 6-8 weeks. This is not a race and wait till you are ready, off the meds and listen to your body.

I actually called and discussed my fear of the 24 hour boot with TBI.
They said if you aren't ready to go home, you can stay for one more day at no extra cost. I should have recorded that conversation to prove they said the "no extra cost" part..lol I find that hard to believe but that is what I was told. I'm self pay. No insurance. I always travel with my own pillows and sheets (ya, I'm one of those germ people). I will bring extra pillows just in case I need them for propping me up. Thanks for the heads up that laying flat may not be so comfortable. I have one of those vacuum bags that you can put a bunch of stuff in there and suck the air out. I will bring a suitcase full of pillows. It will be pretty funny to get knocked over by the air going back into the bag when I get to the hotel..LOL I agree that everyone is different and recovery can vary. The doc said I can go back to work in 4 weeks (he said "light" work whatever that means). I'm pretty much prepared for the fact that 4 weeks seems very optimistic. We are staying in Texas for 4 weeks. I'm not going to fly back to Florida until I feel confident that I'm ready to leave where my doctor is located. Once I get back to Florida, I don't have a doctor that I trust so I'm not rushing back. Luckily for me, my hubby can do his business from anywhere he has a phone and a laptop. Amen on that one! Thank you for sharing your experiences, it really prepares us for what to expect.

I had 2-level ADR with Nick Boeree in UK and used M6-Cs. I would have been ready to check out same day but had agreed to stay 2 nights before I got there. First 1-1/2 days back in the hotel I rested, watched TV, read, and slept. (The residual affect of anesthesia is strong and dwindles out after 2 mos.; same as in the US). Then I was ready to go do some gentle shopping and site-seeing.
