Hi,
My big question is "does Artificial Disc Replacement" for the discs get rid of LEG CRAMPS? Anyone know the answer to that question. Anyone had ADR and can say that that is true and what level/how many levels were done for yourself? I am looking at a collasped L5-S1 needing fusion with the possibility of getting a one level ADR for L4-L5 combination. I have nerve root contact at L5-S1 bilaterally. I also have an interposed nerve root. I don't have a clue what they would do for one of those? Anyone have any ideas??? I already have my left si joint fused.

Hi pearl,
usually leg cramps are a circulatory thing. Try drinking Indian tonic water at night, they do not prescribe quinine sulphate in the USA for this Best, Alastair

In the meantime drink a lot of fluids, and take in A LOT of minerals, a product called Concentrace Trace Mineral Drops by Liqu Mins, another; Magnesiun Malate (Malic Acid)is very good for muscle cramps. You need an increase of Sodium and Potassium in your system, potassum follows sodium, potassium is intracellular stored inside muscle tissue and sodium is extracellular stored outside of tissue cells. Eat a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables (tomato juice is good too) deep tissue massage, and hot showers. I had severe leg cramps two weeks ago and was miserable, after the following the above I have been fine.
As far as ADR helping cramps - if there is nerve compression from herniations that can definetly cause a muscle cramp, so I would say once the nerve is no longer compressed the muscles will no longer present spasmodic symptoms. Andro111

Pearl, after I had ADR, all of my leg cramps and spasms went away. My L5 was starting to fuse with S1, giving you an indication of how much space was lost -- and impinging on some nerves. Hopefully, when and if you have surgery (a big deal!), you will see the same result.
PS: Laura, where the heck does one by malic acid?

Any health food store should carry it. It is also called magnesium malate. Laura
