Default Anyone heard of this doctor in the LA area?

Have been researching the Freedom clinical trial, and the closest location to me (in Monterey, CA) happens to be the LA Spine Center. In speaking with their new patient coordinator, it was mentioned that Dr. Michael Kropf does accept Tricare (my only insurance mechanism for pre/post care, as an active duty service member). The blurb I read about him on the group's website sounds impressive, but I was curious if anyone else might be familiar with him? Thanks!!

A urologist friend of mine knows Dr. Kropf and recommended him to me. He obviously works with Dr. Delamarter at the LA Spine Institute and is clearly well-versed in the world of ADR.

I think Dr. Kropf will be next in line for me for a consultation, as I am still experiencing pain after my ADR.

Best of luck to you! Please PM me with experiences with Dr. Kropf if you do consult with him before I do and I will do the same.

I've seen Dr. Kropf. He is a younger Doctor will less experience than Delamarter. So why not see Delamarter too?

He was ready to do surgery on me during my first consultation with him. The quick to cut philosophy made me a bit nervous. I can't say anything else about him that is bad or good.

Thanks, djscal. That's the type of input/feedback I'm interested in finding.

The sole reason Dr. Kropf's name came up was that he accepts TRICARE, on which I'm dependant as a military member. I didn't specifically ask if anyone else in the practice too this worthless form of insurance, but figured they would have volunteer'd if so?? Provided I wind up going down that way, I'm sure I'll speak to/at Dr. Delamarter, but this is at least a good start. Still aways out from making a decision....

I saw him but wished that I saw Delamarter. He has a good reputation and will speak with you. Make sure the office doesn't misplace your films, etc. I had one goof-up.

Good luck. ~ ans

I am participating in the Freedom Disc/Pro-Disc trial with the LA Spine Institute, Dr. Hun Bae. They came highly recommended by my neurologist, Dr. Sheldon Jordan, also in Santa Monica. If you are chosen to participate, it is my understanding that the company pays for the entire procedure. I do not know the Doctor you consulted with, but I think they are highly recommended by others in the field.

I appreciate input about ADR for L5-S1, especially questions I should ask and what I should expect with surgery and recovery. Thanks.

Steve,

Will be interested in how it the procedure/recovery go for you. I've been dabbling with the idea of trying to get into the study I've already been recommended for the PRODISC-L (which means it would be a "win win"). Still waiting to get final approval from the military, as they'd rather have me go to a surgeon who has done a whopping 20-30 procedures (cervical AND lumbar) vice TBI or similiar practices (ie those who have done a clinically significant number).
