DJ,
I bet you are excited to on your way. I think I am a day or two away from my date being set with Dr. Zigler. I see you are set for the 8th. Mine is going to be a two level. Is yours one or two? Have they told you how long they are going to keep you there? Your date gives me an idea as to how long I am going to have to wait too get on the books.

IHATEINSURANCE,

Man do I love your user name. I am sitting here as we speak putting together my ist appeal with BCBS. Pain in the butt.

Anyway, I called yesterday, the 16th of Jan., and made my arrangements for the 8th of Feb. The one impression I got during the process of talking with Joanne, Dr. Zigler's coordinator, was a sense of relief because I was a cash paying customer. No paperwork I guess and no INSURANCE COMPANY BULL to deal with.

Because you already have your approval it may go just as quickly. They told me to arrive on the 5th, some test on the 6th, more tests and education on the 7th, surgery on the 8th, relasesd on the 9th, could go home the tenth. Would also need to come back in two weeks for follow-up with Dr. Z.

Mine is a one level L5/S1 Prodisc. Quite franlky with everything I have read here this time frame scares the hell out of me. Thought I would be in the hospital 2-4 days at least.
Joanne even told me I could fly home the day of my release. Pretty agressive schedule I believe.

My wife and I may stay a few extra days to make sure I am ok. Also, not sure how in the heck I will be able to handle the airport thing so quickly after surgery. Get there two hours before flight, 3 hour flight, 1.5 hours from Pgh Airport to home. Sounds intimidating to me.

Anyway, I am excited, nervous, happy, sad, scared, pissed at BCBS, etc., etc.

Your stay may be a little longer because of the two-level procedure.

Godd luck and maybe I'll see you there.

Dave

David.........Congrats! I've been evaluated at TBI and told I'm a candidate for the ADR surgery, but it's still in insurance limbo. TBI is a first-rate facility. Zigler has a great track record. I would schedule with him tomorrow if I could. You can be assured your planning and faithfulness will be rewarded. I don't know much about the German option, but stateside, I think you've got the best. Keep us posted!
