When Mark was in Staubing he presented my films and case history to both Dr. Bertagnoli and Zeegers. They both concur: ADR at L3/4, fusion at L4/5 and ADR and level L5/S1. So I'll be kind of like a reverse Oreo, with the cookie (fusion) in the middle and the white stuff on the outside (ADR). I was going for the record of nine levels of fusion, now I'll only have seven levels of fusion and two levels of ADR. The good news is: I haven't had any pains eminating from the thoracic level!!!!

Wow - thats a lot of levels no matter how you look at it!

You'll be in excellent hands with Dr. Bertagnoli. He is an awesome surgeon and I (personally) completely trust his judgement. If/when my C-spine needs more work, he'll be the one I call.

Any idea when you might schedule with him?

CQ,
The reconstructed discs should be okay, but what is the prognosis for the facets at the ADR levels? Is there anything they can do to evaluate the facets before surgery?

Jim

That is good news. A workable, positive solution that will provide adequate mobility and protection for your healthy joints (the precious few) while taking care of the level that requires immobility. Plus, you have 2 of the best spine surgeons in the world agreeing on the course of action.
I'm very happy for you!

Now it's onward and upward..........

I have had that same surgery about 13 weeks ago and am doing great. If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me.
Every week getting stronger and less discomfort. I have no pain at all, but do have a little discomfort after sitting all day. I am still very tight and going to physical therapy and it seems to be getting better. I went for my 12 weeks check up last week and the placement is prefect.
