I haven't asked him directly since I got the same reply that jss got, but it seems he is on their site AND his own... and he's definitely not IN Germany.

Default Dr Clavel

It was I who wrote to Harrison.
I emailed through the Medical tourism in Spain and spine surgery - Barcelona Spine Center site to reach Dr. Clavel's people back in December. The response came from Sue Hart in MI. She's been very friendly and helpful, but I don't like that I couldn't send my records directly to the doctor. I am wondering if one of you with direct contact to BCN-SC or Dr. Clavel could share an email or phone number for direct contact. I have sent off my medical records through Sue Hart, and I just want to make sure they're not instead going to Stenum. I don't mind if there are patient reps, I just don't want to get taken for a ride, as I've been through so much already with a bad car accident, dismissive doctors etc.
thanks!

I originally contacted through the form.
I just phoned the Spain number, and they verified that Sue Hart is their liaison and that I sent the info to the right place. So far she has been quite helpful. I will keep you all posted.

Default Direct to Dr. Clavel

I just scheduled my ADR OR with Dr. clavel. I contacted him through his website form and he initiallu responded himself. I have sent all my records directly to his office and paid to a bank provided by his office.

I had a problem with a missed consultation time, I called the number, his secretary responded in 10 minutes said he was in surgery and he called 30 minutes later.

I don't really know anything about the tourism sites I went straight to the MD's. Not sure if that save any time or money?

Good luck!

Laurie

Question Sorry to ask, again

Thanks Dingie. And hey y'all...

This may ruffle some feathers, but, here goes. Are the Stenum reps who hijacked this site (and cost me money out of my pocket), now representing other doctors, like doctor Clavel? That seems to be the case, based on what I read from other posts.

For newbies, this is the FAQ on Stenum: What is Stenum Hospital's Reputation?

Please note: for those of you that have had good experiences with any of the docs under the increasingly large US-Stenum partnership influence, be patient and tolerant with this message. This post is a year-after-year complaint regarding the abusive marketing practices (et al) from Stenum, which is immune from US laws. As to how Stenum patients have done post-operatively, see the posts above and use the search utility found above.

Unhappy yes :(

I didn't have Dingie's experience unfortunately. When I submitted my info on the bcn-sc site I actually got a response from Sue Hart. This was at the end of December. I guess I missed the window for direct contact. When I had my phone consult with Dr. Clavel and expressed my concerns for the lengthy process of going through Sue (which also doesn't make sense, since she wasn't the one who recruited me as a patient) he mentioned that he was in contract with the Stenum people, and that he would try and resolve the issues I had. Sue then wrote to me thanking me for sharing our delays. I'm sure she was less than thrilled, but I don't want Dr. Clavel to lose patients, as he almost lost me because of her. So the short answer is, yes... unfortunately. I can confirm Jim is involved in "world spine institute" too because she cc'd him on some of our emails which I wasn't happy about. I don't even know who he is! I still have to deal with her, and am waiting again to hear from her, but I guess I don't have a choice unless I go with Boeree.

I have read on another site, that Dr Ritter Lang had lost his partner due to cancer a few years ago, and was looking for a new partner. He has hooked up with Dr. Clavell they are doing international surgeries once a month.

There is a YouTube video, if you punch Dr.Ritter-lang dr Clavell in the search bar, about a surgery done by the two of them.

I opted to use HealthBase. The site is very easy to upload MRI's, etc and through this site Dr. Clavel has access to my info. To date, Moe has been exceptionally responsive by phone and by email - in one case, he was able to get a 12 hour turn-around on the Dr. Clavel's note for the Spanish Consulate for my wife's Euro visa (she is Peruvian and requires a travel visa). The Healthbase reviews are pretty good and, for my experience to date, I would rate them as excellent.

There was no hard sell. When I mentioned that I only wanted the M6-L, Moe's sole recommendation was Dr. Clavel (this lined up with my own research). If I had opted for another ADR manufacturer, he was ready with many more options.
