Linda and Cindy, can you also tell me what type of nerve pain or other pain you had before surgery and what your MRI films indicated? Also, did you have a discogram and what did that indicate?

Thanks.

The surgeon in the states that I am seeing seems very confident. He basically acts as if my single level would be nearly an outpatient situation and that I would go home later the same day.

I asked to talk to some of the past patients. One did call. She had her's done in August of 2004 and is doing great. She said she was off pain medicine two hours after the surgery. Hard to believe.

I guess they can go quite easy like Alastair's and several others. I'm a little concerned about the small number of ADR's that Pettine has done but it sounds like they have been good. The assitant said they just got back from a Charite event where the patient's post op x-rays were done. She said all of them were reviewed and found to be perferctly implanted. He will be doing more of both the Charite and Maverick when that study starts in March.

Any good way to further check out a doctor?

Off pain medications 2-hours post-op??? This is major abdominal surgery... they go all the way into your spine... chisel, rasp, hammer, grind, etc... Some people have stellar recoveries, but I've never heard of a hospital stay less than 2 nights. (That doesn't mean that it doesn't happen.) If someone is off pain meds at 2 hours, I suspect that they are either talking about a different procedure.... don't remember... or are perhaps 1 in bazillion who don't feel pain after surgery???
