In 2010 neither is mentioned. I can see a cyst possibly going away
but arthritis? No one mentions this now. Maybe the first MRI was read
differently. Not sure. I did email this question to Boeree.
The interesting part is Dr. Clavel said that I need three cervical ADR's.
C4-5
C5-6
C6-7
Not sure why he said C4-5?
Another question to ask Boeree.
Vicki,

Adding to laidupdocs professional comments, I personally had several types of films of mine (MRIs, Xrays, etc...) read and had varying degrees-amount of information or lack of information in their reports. A few painted some very bad pictures of my overall spine health while I believe others missed very important findings such as an early annular tear and bulge early in my adulthood. My good friend is a radiologist and pretty much took the time to look over all my films past and present (prior to surgery) and basically said what my neurosurgeon said, "you have loss of disc height at L4-L5...(don't remember how much measurement wise)...loss of signal intensity at L4-L5 and a mild disc bulge with dessication and possible stenosis but hard to assess, everything else appears unremarkable". He also stated without bashing his own profession, if you assigned several radiologist the same task of reading/interpreting the same set of films you would PROBABLY get different results or amounts of information. There are so many variables that can affect this but he said one thing is that often times they go based on what they are asked to "look" for based on a say a specific complaint by a patient or an actual diagnosis provided on a doctors order. Meaning they can be very broad or very specific in the details of their interpretations as well as what they are being asked for. I was actually pleased to hear this and the news of my MRIs! I will definitely have him look at my xrays and MRIs post surgery. If I am not mistaken they should be done at my six week post op appointment which is this Monday, October 3, 2011.

I've often wondered if all those years of the chiropractor
did me right or wrong.
One chiropractor told me that if I didn't let him fix the
curvature of my neck that I wouldn't live to be 60 years old.
All of my spine doctors have chuckled when I told them about
this "age limit".
You start off going to one doctor, then get a second opinion
and then you get too many opinions and end up not feeling
good about anything you decide on!
And to think back in the day, I was nervous about child birth.
I'd take the child birth over this back pain/decision.

Vicki,

Forgive the (perhaps) obvious question: what specific procedure are you scheduled to have performed? Did you discuss your co-morbidities (and other risks) with the doctor?

Thx

I'm scheduled for M6 at the L5-S1

I did discuss all of my details and was assured that
I'm okay for this procedure.

Will discuss AGAIN when I get there.
Believe me, I'm gonna make sure before we do anything.
If a fusion turns out to be the better choice...I'm fine with that.
He doesn't think that's the case though.
