microdiscectomy after traditional discectomy?

Dear all,

I had an open discectomy l4l5 in 1999. I think my disc rupture recurred recently.
Has anyone had microdiscectomy after having open discectomy due to recurred disc rupture?

It seems to me that open discectomy is an old fashion way and there's no reason for anyone to have it when there is a microdiscectomy, which is a modern version of traditional discectomy.
