Default MLB player had ADR

Chris Duncan, former Cardinals slugger, and now in spring training with the Nationals, had cervical ADR surgery last year. Anybody know of any other pro athletes who have had ADR?

Actually, Chris Duncan had his ADR surgery in the summer of 2008 here in St. Louis with the Prestige. He struggled badly last year in spring training and through the first half of the season until he was traded to the Red Sox for his poor performance. I guess 7 months isn't enough healing time for a professional athlete. I'm curious how he does this year for the Nationals now that he's over 1.5 years out from his surgery.

I don't know of any other professional athletes with an ADR.

Default UFC Fighter had the XLIF fusion

Nate "The Rock" Quarry, a fighter in the UFC (MMA cagefighting) had an XLIF fusion done on his back (L4-L5 I think) a couple of years ago and returned to full action. I find that amazing considering that these guys slam each other to the mat and get into all kinds of contorted positions, since much of the fighting takes place on the ground (as opposed to boxing). He was back to training 3 months after the surgery and fighting in the cage 7 months after his fusion. I had the same procedure done on my L3-L4 disc, but would never consider doing anything so physical with my spine!!

There was a pro dancer on Dancing with the Stars that had some kind of cervical procedure a few seasons back. I'm not sure what they had done but they were out for several weeks. I remember trying to find out what they had done when I heard about the injury but couldn't find any details.

Not on the famous athlete end, but the room I was usually in for checkups had a thank you note/pic of a power lifter who'd had disk replacement done by my surgeon and claimed they were back in action 100%

Frankly, it amazes me what is possible when the right combination of procedures are done to resolve a spine issue.

Again, not ADR but I definitely come across news of athletes recovering from spinal issues. I don't actually follow "professional wrestling" myself (eg, Hulk Hogan) but there are a number of these guys who have serious neck injuries then, somehow, return to the ring.

The wrestler John Cena recently ruptured a disc, had the disc removed and the level fused then back in the ring in a matter of months. But these guys also have ridiculous muscle mass supporting their spine and access to the world's finest trainers and training facilities.
