Wow, I'm sorry you're surgery has been postponed again. I hope that this time it will happen. I understand the concern about losing a job, I worry about it every day. I am frustrated myself right now, waiting to get my medical records so that I can move forward with surgery. And my boss needs to know, so he can plan for me leaving. The longer it takes for me to have surgery, the less likely I will be able to keep my present job. I had wanted to have surgery in March, or at least April, but I don't have a date yet.

One bit of advice for you about flying. Maybe you have already thought about this, but arrange in advance to have a wheelchair (or electric cart) to get you through the airport. You won't have to wait in security lines, and will get on and off the plane first. This will at least help with some of the hassle of flying.

Good luck, and I will be waiting to hear more from you, on the other side.

Another consideration for getting through airports is to use a walker. We have walkers with wheels so they are easy to negotiate. I haven't used one in years, but it's the only practical way we can get him through the airport. Sitting is extremely uncomfortable for him, so using a wheelchair (or worse?) a zipping cart with people getting on and off, just isn't practical. The walker works great and it adds a shelf it's easy to carry other things on so you're not dragging a bag of some kind.

Also on flights: we always carry extra lumbar pillows and hub now has a special seat cushion for his 'after surgery flight'. We don't worry one bit about rules when things are needed for comfortable transport. We've had two walkers, a bag of canes, at least 3 pillows, our dog in her bag, two normal carryon cases plus each of us with a backpack. No problem.

Also, with or without assistance, you simply request early boarding and it is granted. They will also reseat passengers at the gate to help you get an empty row.

I'm so glad you took the time to post something. It sounds like you are doing great... best of luck to you. The people in my life that have had the surgery had more trouble sitting than standing, so wheelchairs were pretty useless for them. I'll check out your outcome thread.
