Hi Everyone,
I just got out of Surgery with Dr. Jho. He's awesome. I had a L3-4 decompression. He didn't touch the disc, just drilled out pieces of bone spicules and ligaments to make room for spinal cord and nerves. But right after surgery my disc exploded. Man it was awefully painful but he got an MRI and removed the piece of Nucleus the next day. So now I'm thinking....Ok I got this hole in my annulus. Nucleus could keep leaking out. I know it's supposed to be rare but the fact is I have less nucleus now and a "flat tire" annulus. So I want to fill it back up even though the annulus is weak and can't contain it. So I saw a video of a procedure where they take out the nucleus and put in like a "plastic bag" in the hole and fill it up with synthetic liquid which hardens into the exact sphape of the hole they just made. It becomes the new nucleus. Does anyone know the name of that procedure or the doctor that does it?

Try looking at the Neudisc method. I am unclear if it is being approved as we speak, or available only in Europe.

Welcome to our forum though, unfortunately in your present state. Many of us have gone through many different forms of therapy and treatments. We will support you in the process.

Hi there

Are you thinking of the Dascor disc replacement system? Below is a link to further information

http://www.discdyn.com/dascor.html

I know of a couple of surgeons in the UK using the system but not US I'm afraid. There are one or two members here who have had Dascor, you could try searchung for their posts.

Good luck in your quest

Best wishes

Lynda

Hi there

Here's a link which you amy find helpful, its to an article in the library that Slackwater posted "RADIOGRAPHIC RESULTS OF NUCLEUS REPLACEMENT USING THE DASCOR® DISC ARTHROPLASTY SYSTEM: RESULTS FROM TWO PROSPECTIVE MULTI-CENTER EUROPEAN STUDIES"

http://eposter.eurospine.org/cm_data/eposter/P179.pdf

Hope it helps

don't forget Fibrin therapy with Dr. Pauza

http://www.tsjh.org/physicians/pain-...ent-pauza.html

Why did he remove the nucleus if you herniated your disc? Does it not stop leaking?

Default More information on this subject

You got some good ideas here, thanks all. There are a few more missing pieces to this moving puzzle -- other disc nucleus replacement technologies -- but I am not sure that they are that positive in terms of outcomes.

Sorry for not offering more details now (hope to soon). In the meantime, did you scroll down and see the "similar threads" feature?

Smile names of newest artificial disc nucleus'

I found the names of the most common PDN (prosthetic disc nucleus'). They are the hydroflex, the dascor, and the neudisc or nuedisc or newdisc (whatever). They hydroflex is made by Raymedica and looks like they improved the subsidence problem with the new model but 4600 europeans are walking around with no problems with the old model. But for some reason clinical trials have halted on them. No idea why. Anyone know? I am not going to be a guinea pig and have some doc put some other pdn in me as a double blind experimental case. If you need to talk to me about back pain I can probably diagnose you over the phone better than some greedy idiot doctor that hasn't experienced enough pain to get motivated to learn what's causing it. we need more icons to choose from....like some patient strangling an idiot doctor with a rear naked (for all you ufc fans).

Default Dr. Jho Update

Ok everyone I've changed my mind about Dr. Hae-Dong Jho. He's not as good as i thought. He's done 2 surgeries on me and I'm no better. The thing that makes me mad is he did these surgeries without first getting diagnostic injections to pinpoint the point at which the nerve was being compressed. This is a HUGE!!!!!! MISTAKE!!!!

Now I've had to take it upon myself (freaking again) to get some local docs around here to do it so when I go in next time I'm not cutting on stuff that doesn't need cutting. WHY CAN'T I FIND A FREAKING DOCTOR THAT KNOWS WHAT TO DO INSTEAD OF ME HAVING TO DIAGNOSE MYSELF!

Mark

I have read about Dr Jho on the web and the surgeries he offers. Sorry your decompressions have not helped you at all. I can understand you not wanting to undergo something experimental. I vaguely remember reading something about one of the disc nuclues replacements possibly being carcinogenic but can't for the life of me think where I read it which isn't very helpful..sorry.

Have you found a local doctor to undertake the diagnostics? Have you looked into the fibrin sealant in any depth? I'm sorry things have not turned out as hoped for you.

Best wishes

Lynda

Are you in Colorado? Your location says Golden, CO. I just googled Dr. Hae-Dong Jho and came up with a PA doc. Is this who performed the surgery? Anyway, I have been looking for a highly SKILLED NS/Ortho who performs MIS fusions (not a candidate for ADR) and have been given the following names by docs and friends who have had various spinal surgeries. Assuming you are looking for someone in Colorado here is a list of docs I have spoken to or are considering: Chad Prusmack, Sean Markey, Sanjay Jantan, Zaki Ibrahim. I hope you find relief and answers soon.
