Rob,
I am not sure about lumbar from a practical perspective. How did you hear about it? Is the idea to release tension on the nerve, thereby taking away the pain? Here’s a chiropractic approach that explains “correcting dural tension," but it does not seem to be what you are looking for as it is targeting discogenic pain: The Lumbosacral Dura and Sciatic Nerve Tension: Treatable Components of Discogenic Pain http://www.chiroweb.com/mpacms/dc/article.php?id=46029 You may want to look at this course link and contact the instructor: Differential Diagnosis For Nerve Injuries Of The Lower Extremity John Ragonese, PT, OCS, CSCS received his Masters degree in Physical Therapy from Northwestern University in 1998. http://www.healthclick.com/Courses/nas14.cfm In the meantime, for others with non-lumbar interests: Nerve gliding exercises for thoracic outlet syndrome http://intraspec.ca/PIIS0749071203000908.pdf Different Nerve-Gliding Exercises Induce Different Magnitudes of Median Nerve Longitudinal Excursion: An In Vivo Study Using Dynamic Ultrasound Imaging -- Michel W. You can always look here to find a therapist near you. Make sure they have been certified in "Nerve Entrapments".
http://www.activerelease.com/provide...p&strZip=90036 There's also another physical therapy called Gyrotonics. If you can find a physical therapist who is trained in gyrotonics there's a chance they could also help you.
