I broke down last night and went to the ER because the back pain was so bad. But it wasn't my back at all, it was a kidney stone and because I have a dual ureter on the left, the ureters are abnormally small. Pain scale 1-10, it was a 9. If it was a 10, I'd be screaming. But I was just writhing and moaning. Funny thing was two days ago I had an attack of pain on the way to my pain doc's and he figured the pain was in my SI joint, so he gave me an injection in the SI joint. Well, I guess the kidneys aren't too far from the SI joint, so it was probably a good assumption. Now I'm back home waiting for this to pass.

Hilary,

I hope you start to feel better. Kidney stones are no fun!

Are you using any herbal treatments to help? There are many teas that may assist with the stone and the pain. Remember, this too shall pass...

Hilary,
So sorry to hear about the kidney stones. I've read of people reaching 10, as in passed-out from pain.

Let us know how it goes.
Take care,

Jim

My father is going on 84 in October and never missed a day from work until he had kidney stones.. he woke up in the middle of the night and told my mother to take him to the ER and she wanted to shower first~ he said "now" and once there was diagnosed with 2 kidney stones which he finally passed on his own but I had never heard him complain of any pain, let alone such excrutiating pain until then.. and never since then...
Good luck passing this and so glad that it wasn't really your SI joint tho yuck on the kidney stone .. take care, Maria

I send my sympathies, I had kidney stones in 1995, and they are far from amusing. I ended up having to have one surgically taken out which was 2 cm in diameter. -- -- -- another source of back pain which can be confusing. I hope they have looked at your diet??? They say its worse than "Childbirth" only you can tell us that
best,
Alastair
