Hi folks,
I haven't been here in a while, busy with career changes and a relocation from CT to TN. As my signature explains, I had a 2 level fusion around a congenital fusion then ADR by Dr B 3 years ago. Al is good with that although I still take 4 Ibuprofen a day to keep headaches away. I found an orthopedic doc in Knoxville, DrLuke Madigan who seems to be very familiar with ADR. I have pain on the left side of my neck if I turn too much so thought there might be something else going on. The xray showed ossification around the ADR at C6-7. He said we could take the agressive route and get an MRI or see a neurologist. I chose the latter but didnt think to ask what happens after the MRI. These spurs are looking like they will fuse if nothing is done. ACK!
Does anybody have any similar experience?
Ann

Ann,

Sorry about the news. In case you've not seen this, there's some good background info on "HO" here:

What are Osteophytes, Bone Spurs, HO?
http://adrsupport.org/eve/forums/a/t...1/m/6161000181

Have any docs prescribed NSAIDs or anything to slow down the bone growth? Have you seen a bone doc who specializes in these areas?

If an inflammatory process is in fact fueling the bone growth, there are ways to slow down the process...

Thanks for that Harrison, the articles were very helpful. I've only seen the one orthopedic doc and since I chose to see a neurologist he didn't have any other suggestions other than getting an MRI. Maybe I should do that anyway. The chiropractor has been helpful in keeping it from tightening up as it wants to do. Electrical stim, massage, and stretching has helped.
