Via a weird twist of fate I was able to set up a telephone consultation this Saturday with Dr. Yue. I gave a ride to some stranded backpackers just coming out of a 6 day hike in the Eastern Sierra's the week before last, and one of them happeneed to work for a high-level medical investment company in NY. I told him about my situation, and today I got an email telling me he set up a talk. It is a Karmic world, I suppose.
I am somewhat new to all of this and trying to get my ducks in a row. Of course, I know that the main priority will be to have him look at my profile (set up on the URL in my signature), and see what he thinks about my chances for ADR or if I should look more into established approaches. I also know that there is a Discovery 2-level disc trial that he will be running, and I will ask him about the potential of participating in that. Additionally, I know that he has done a some work with Pro-Dick C, and that perhaps he could help me get FDA approal to get more than 1-level done with that if I wanted to so something stateside. My questions are these: What, if any, other important things should I be asking him while I have his attention? This could be my only chance, and I don't want to forget anything. Second, I see on his website that he has published and done work extensively with Dr. Bertagnoli and Dr. Fenk-Meyer in Germany. I am also in the process of having them look over my situation and see what they think of my best options. Should I mention this to him? Obviousy they work rather close, but still it is about professional egos, etc. On many of the postings here about Dr. Yue it is alwas said that he is a stand-up guy and down to earth (same is said about Dr. Bertagnoli), but I don't want to ste on toes, so to speak, and get off on the wrong foot. Thanks for any suggestions.

I would be very upfront with Dr. Yue. Dr. Yue would also be very upfront with you whether he could help you. He would give his opinion if he thinks you can hold off or not. This is exactly what he did in my case. He knew he could not help due to lack of FDA approval so he recommended and sent my films to Dr. B for review. Meanwhile I had already sent him a CD along with sending the same information to 2 other doctors for opinion.
I just felt so comfortable with Dr. Yue and being able to have him as my follow up doctor, this really played a big part in my decision. Good Luck and keep us posted on how you make out. Judy

I will 2nd what Judy said:
Dr. Yue is the first doctor that I have encountered that will refer you to other specialists if he thinks it is in your best interest (as opposed to telling you to wait a couple of years to see "what happens", or so they can "get trained in that procedure"). David

I agree with Judi & David! He will refer you to Dr B if he can't do it in US due to good old FDA.
