Interesting news here, it's the first time I ever saw a press release offering specific info along with info on the patient.

As many of you know, blood clots can be extremely dangerous, some people's lives have been drastically impacted from these conditions.

A very excellent article, although add to the list that was stressed in the paper; Long Bone fractures (Femur esp) Long Haul Truckers, long Car rides, long Plane rides and any long periods of bed rest without exercise. Watch for pain in your legs, swelling in the legs, shortness of breath, pinpoint chest pain, unexplained malaise/fatigue combined with any of above. and dizziness and or fainting. Any of these symptoms need to be evaluated by your PMD or ER or if severe 911. I dont want to scare anyone, but DVTs (deep vein thrombosis) and PEs (pulmonary embolisms) are more common than people know. 35-40% of all Full-Arrest (heart stopped/not breathing) patients treated in the field by Paramedics on post mortem exam have Pulmonary Embolisms (blood clots in the Lungs that that travel up from the legs). Just be familiar with the symptoms and you are way ahead of the curve! Prevention for any type of Back surgery is to walk as soon as advised by your Dr. and continue to do so. Take care, Dano

I think this is why all ADR patients should be given anti-DVT injections especially if flying. All European Hospitals do this

Thanks for this Dano

Best

HI,
I AM NEW TO THIS, BUT I AM INTRIGUED BY ALL THE WONDERFUL INFORMATION AVAILABLE ON THIS AND MANY WEBSITES ABOUT ADR.

MY HUSBAND WAS RECENTLY DIAGNOSED WITH DDD INVOLVING L3/4, L4/5, AND L5/S1. HE ALSO HAS A HERNIATION AT L3/4. HE HAD A DISCECTOMY IN 10/2000 THAT WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL, BUT THE LAST YEAR HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE. HIS PAIN HAS RETURNED WITH A VENGEANCE! WE'VE SEEN 4 DIFFERENT DR.S --- AND TRIED EVERYTHING FROM INJECTIONS, CHIROPRACTIC, PT, YOU NAME IT!!!

HIS CURRENT SURGEON WANTS TO PERFORM A TRIPLE FUSION AND TOLD US HE WASN'T A CANDIDATE FOR ADR BECAUSE IT'S ONLY AVAILABLE ON 1 LEVEL. NOW I KNOW DIFFERENT, THANKS TO MARK AND SEVERAL OTHER CASES WE'VE READ ABOUT.

CAN ANYONE HELP US FIND OUT WHICH CLINIC OR DR MIGHT CONSIDER A ADR ON 3 LEVELS IN THE US??
HOW DO YOU GET THE BALL ROLLING ON THIS?

WE WOULD CONSIDER GERMANY BUT WOULD LIKE TO STAY IN THE STATES FOR INSURANCE PURPOSES, ETC. (ALTHOUGH, I WOULD LOVE THE TRIP TO EUROPE!!!)

HARRISON, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS FORUM AND THE INVALUABLE INFO AVAILABLE HERE!! GOD BLESS YOU!
