Default Question regarding ADR insertion prep....

Have something of an odd question, and I'm not sure if it's been covered. I know that when a fusion is done, they apparently "prepare" the vertebrae (ie shaving down the top to flatten it out/expose the inner bone for better fuzing). When an ADR is inserted, is the same procedure used, or is the device simply inserted once the diseased disc is removed?

My apologies if this is a no-brainer, but it popped into my head recently and I was curious if such preparation does take place if it might be the cause of subsidence in some people? Just want to get everything straight in my head as I get closer to pushing forward with ADR. Thanks!

Alan

Default ADR prep

Yes, the endplates are prepped and the neural foramen are cleared of osteophytes. The exact method varies by device type.
