Stacy,
I am sorry this happened but not surprised. Did you get the name of the individual that approved the surgery the first time? If so, I do not know how they could back out of their committment. |

I need some help. Can anyone advise me on this. My insurance company (HIP of New York) initially approved the surgery. I'm now told that it was approved in error and the rescinded the authorization. I have the original authorization #. They have faxed me the letter of denial and I am starting my own appeals process along with Sythes (prodisc). My whole life is in limbo right now. The fact the they originally authorized the surgery, I started disability with my job and had to make provisions for my kids and so on. Does anyone think I have a legal issue here?

Stacy:
Typical insurance company B.S. They have no care for the damage they do to people's lives. Just making a profit and making sure the executives get huge bonuses as well as the investment people who make their portfolio's larger. I am sorry you are going through this crap when you are the most vulnerable. I don't know if you have a legal case but it is certainly worth consulting an attorney on and getting a strong letter sent off threatening all kinds of legal recourse for backing out of the approval. More fuel for why we need a universal health care system. Hang in there. Terry Newton
