John W.,
Congratulations on your decision, I know it must have been a long road, but I think you will be very happy. Dr. Regan has an amazing reputation and the pcm is suppose to be a great disk!
I never really had a lot of radicular pain, but I did have shooting pain in my neck before surgery that would take my breath away. I was very scared to even turn my neck. After surgery all of the pain in my neck went away and I have more mobility than I probably have ever had in my life. And interestingly, even though I had 3 adr's and a three level foraminotomy, I never really felt much pain where they did the surgery. I was surprised at that. My main complaint now, and it has been for awhile is that I am exhausted and I have an overall bodyache, but I do believe that is because I am still recovering from the surgery itself. ADR surgery takes a toll on the body, more than any of my previous surgeries.( cervical diskectomy and foot surgery). But since you are only having one level done, it may be a much quicker recovery for you. With me, half of my cervical disks are artificial!
