I would like to know recovery time frm single level lumbar L4/5 ADR from some those who have this procedure. Also I would like to know what restriction you may have. How much the surgery has helped or not helped.

Jan, it really depends on the health (physical, mental, etc.) of the patient. Most folks go back to work part/full time after 8-10 weeks, but that may be pushing it for some people.

In the meantime, you may find this part of the site helpful...including a paper on recovery I wrote almost four years ago:

I went back to my job as an Adapted Physical Education Teacher in 5.5 months after surgery. I stayed out as long as I could due to the physical nature of my job. I waited 2+ years to going back to teaching skiing.

As for my thoughts on was ADR it worth it... You bet it was!

I went back to work after 4-level ADR surgery within 2 months. I had the surgery November 4th and went back as the executive director on January 4th. It all depends on what you do and also the condition you are in pre-surgery.

Good-Luck and Go With God.

Laura was about the fastest I've heard of. She hung around Germany for a week and a half after L5-S1 Charite surgery, flew home and started work as a desk jockey engineer part-time immediately after returning. She was also in "ride a bike 200 miles in a day" shape the week before the neuropathy caught up with her and led to the discovery of DDD.

I went back to work part-time ligt duty at about 6 weeks at 9 weeks full time. Jan.16 will be months since 1 level L4/5 ADR. I still have back and leg pain today pain is worse. The only thing I can think of is I slipped on a wet floor a week ago didn't fall just jerked. Well anyway I see my surgeon next Monday. My injury use work related so worker comp. My sace worker is so interested in when i will be at PMI that I am afraid they will release me from their care to soon then I may not get treatment without a battle. My regular job requires a lot of bending twisting lifting 12 hour shifts often time not time for meals. I know everyone knows what not enough help is like. I want to be able to go back to my regular job in nursing but don't know if I can do it, if I can't I am going to have to pay back a 10,000 dollar bonus I got last march when I became an RN in agreance to work for them for 48 months I had worked the same place as LPN. This is the same place I hurt on back lifting.
