I am both angry and sorry to report the following news. It’s another example of how difficult is to maintain an honest, credible and objective spine patient community that serves patients.
Months ago, I learned that some individuals took the time to copy all my original (copyrighted) content from the ADRsupport.org site. Every page, character and bit of punctuation. Thinking strategically, these people even reserved the domain names of adrsupport.info, adrsupport.us and others. These web sites were then published to the internet with only one change made to all of my original content that they duplicated: the email address. They duplicated all my original content, but the “contact us” email was modified to enable any emails to be sent to the perpetrator: the representative for Stenum Hospital in Germany. Three years ago, another spine broker (a competitor to Stenum), interviewed me on camera at an event in NYC that he arranged. Later, he edited the video, twisted my words, and used it to market his services! I was livid and sent a cease & desist letter – which was ignored – even to this day. So, being a tad smarter with this latest, obvious and egregious event, I found a good lawyer to research the issue and serve official legal documents to both Stenum and its US representative. Thankfully, the sites that were identified in the cease & desist are now inaccessible by the internet. Should you find any of this unbelievable, I have extensive documentation as evidence. You can easily confirm this by looking up the above web sites (and several other domains) to identify the legal owners. Folks, this non-profit organization does not have the financial resources to “compete” with people who are literally making money from you and this web site. Sadly, the donations received this year will now be allocated to these legal expenses! If any of you have any sound ideas that could help avoid these disgusting and expensive problems, I am all ears. In the meantime, if you can volunteer legal resources, donations or winning lottery tickets – all are appreciated. Please post here, email or call if you can help. On a brighter note, in the New Year I’ll be reporting on interesting and more hopeful progress we’ve made on some important projects. Peace, really.

Harrison,
Who is this rep for Stenum? I know the ones here in the U.S. and I seriously doubt that they would do anything like this. Also, I doubt that anyone at Stenum would do this either. Mark

Mark, just look up the sites as I suggested. Sorry you are wrong. We all need to learn from these ugly events and move on.

Actually, Mark and the rest of us may need more help. Right after I read your post last night, shortly after you created it, I checked the websites you mentioned and couldn't access any of them. I thought that meant that you were successful in stopping them and didn't think twice.

I tried your suggested sites and many other combinations and couldn't bring up anything.

Well, you can visit godaddy.com (or many other sites that track DNS). Or you can ask someone who knows how to look these things up (it took me less than 1 minute on godaddy.com). I'd be happy to send you some instructions; but I am pretty sure you are just wasting my time (and others as well). Sorry to be blunt, but most patients here don't have time for ANY MORE lying, deception or any activities that waste people time.

To save others the trouble I copied what godaddy.com had about the adrsupport.info site. Not that I distrusted Rich but this is easier for us mere mortals without Rich's extensive web knowledge. The owner of the website is exactly who Rich said it was. It doesn't mean that the surgeons at Stenum aren't doing a good job; many an excellent doctor/surgeon has lousy office staff.

Harrison,
How am I wasting your time? I didn't do anything. You brought it up and I was just asking a very simple question. Thanks to annapurna for providing the info. I'm sure you are not refering to me as lying or deceiving anyone. Mark

I really didn't want this additional information to be posted, as:
- I don't want to make a terrible matter worse, possibly increasing liabilities for any parties; - I've spent enough time on it and I'd rather be helping patients or raising money for this organization; - There are also other people (patients) that are worthy of our time and focus that this issue. Let's move on and try to support our friends in this community who need our help!

If this was meant to be a joke by this rep it is NO joke no matter what the circumstances and all facts should be published for the community to inspect. Very sad indeed.
