Default Stockholm Spine Center?

I'm considering a two-level ADR at 4/5, 5/1 in July with Dr. Svante Berg at the Stockholm Spine Center:

http://www.spinecenter.se/index.aspx?languageID=5

I visited Dr. Berg a few months ago on a trip to Sweden, and was impressed. He was apparently the first to do ADRS in Sweden, back in 2004. I've been to a number of surgeons here in the U.S., variously proposing fusion and hybrid fusion/adr and yet for various reasons am not pleased with any of them.

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with the Stockholm Spine Center or Dr. Berg?

I've had five other surgeries (two microdiscectomies followed by fixes at 5/1 and then 4/5 plus a spinal fluid leak repair) and with chronic back pain for two years. I still have questions and doubts; but I'm very much thinking about going forward at the Stockholm center, and would love to hear about anyone else's experiences there.

Hi,
First time heard of Stockholm Spine Center. Since you're thinking about going to Europe, you may want to consider Barcelona Spine Center (www.bcn-sc.com) to get a 2nd opinion. Dr Clavel was approachable, caring, and most of all, he and his team were very good.

orinstarn,

Five previous surgeries and you're gearing up for a sixth!?! You poor slob. I'm going to have to quit lamenting that I've had four.

I don't know anything about the Stockholm Spine Center, but I certainly wish you all of the best. Please let us know how it goes if you end up going there.

Good luck, Jeff

I can vouch for Dr Clavel. He did a double ADR on me (C3/4 and C6/7) in Nov 2009. Since time I've run two half marathons, one full marathon and can swim two miles and ride a bicycle 100 miles.

Where ever you decide to go ... good luck!

Jeff
