Hello all, I (probably) will have ADR surgery with Dr. Zeegers -- "probably" because he will have the final OK after he examines me. What can I expect afterwards for rehabilitation?

The reason I am asking is that historically PT has been too aggressive for my body, even when they try to water it down. I tend to heal slowly, and I have some other injuries, and I'm worried about being pushed too hard. Even when they think it's "nothing", often, PT makes me much worse -- not better.

Will I have some input into this, and will they listen?

Thank you, Fiddle

Dr. Yue sent me for physical therapy at about 6 weeks. After about 6 weeks I quit. Like you they seemed to be making me worse. I think the problem is that they are not yet experienced with ADR patients, just my opinion. I was walking 3 miles a day at the point about 5 days per week. When talking this over with Dr. Yue he left it up to me to decide whether to continue or stop.

You will go to the Gyrotronics Gym some days after your surgery where a team of PT`s and Drs will assess you, plus give you a book of exercises to do - - -make sure its in English -- - - -no worries when you get home the book has what weeks to do what exercise -- - - -you can always delay any "Hard" exercise until you feel OK with it

The Alphaklinik is a "Complete treatment"
Best

Fiddle, it's their job to listen to you -- you're the patient! Of course, they want to help you get back on track and start you on a focused program of safe exercise. But as we've seen, there are big differences across states and especially national borders! (How many US patients know what Gyrotronics is?!)

Many of you know how conservative I am in terms of PT -- as in delaying it as long as you can. But I do believe in the "right" PT, but getting the right professional to give you the right regime is a challenge.

In general, I do believe in the physical therapy profession. They've worked hard, even developing a Code of Ethics.

Fiddle, for what it's worth, I've heard great things about the PT practice "over there." Just be polite & communicative throughout the process.

Good luck with the next chapter in your journey!

Hi Alastair,

Yes, it seemed like the best choice. I could have gotten a better "deal" at another hotel, but all things considered, the Sheraton is in the best location for me and my brother. And convenience is important, given that there is a surgery to contend with. Also, they've had many patients come through, so this won't be anything new for hotel. So yes, Bogenhausen here we come!
